Exporting audio
From a recording's transcript view, choosing the download/share option gets you the original audio file. On desktop this opens your OS's native Save File dialog; on mobile there's no save-to-disk step — Cohearo hands the audio to your OS's native share sheet so you can send it to whichever app you pick. A subtitle next to the option shows how much longer the audio will be available (e.g. "Expires in 5h"), based on the same 72-hour local retention window described in Recording — after that, there's no audio left to export, though the transcript itself is unaffected.
If a recording is synced to the cloud, an Open in Dashboard option is also available, opening that same recording on the Cohearo web dashboard in your browser.
Clipboard behavior
As soon as a transcript is ready — right after transcription finishes, or after AI enhancement completes for a preset that has it on — Cohearo copies it to your system clipboard automatically, so you can paste it anywhere with no manual step. This happens for every recording today. A Copy button is also always available on the transcript view for grabbing whichever tab (Enhanced, Diarized, Raw) is currently on screen.
The global hotkey: speak now, paste later
Settings → Hotkeys (desktop only) lets you assign a global keyboard shortcut to start and stop recording — and, per preset, a shortcut to launch a specific one — from anywhere on your machine, even when Cohearo isn't the focused window. Press the combination to select a row, then press the key combination you want; duplicate bindings across actions are flagged and blocked until resolved.
The hotkey starts and stops a recording; it does not type anything into whatever app you're using. The mechanic is: press the hotkey, speak, stop the recording, and the finished transcript lands on your clipboard automatically, the same auto-copy described above — you paste it yourself, wherever and whenever you need it.
